Every month we send one prompt built around unplugging. Take time away from a screen and enjoy some time to yourself to answer it in a notebook, in your head on a walk, or as a discussion starter.

Puzzles & Pastimes Press makes the kind of books that end up on a kitchen table, tucked into a suitcase, or given as gifts: crosswords, word searches, trivia, card games, children’s books, and fiction, all built for people who value unplugging for a bit.
Behind it is a husband-and-wife team who came to self-publishing from two very different careers:
Chris spent more than two decades in sales, which taught him how to read a room and fill dead air — good training for writing puzzle clues nobody asked for. Before that, he studied geology and worked as a park ranger. He can identify a rock formation on sight. He still cannot get a tent up in under fifteen minutes.
Moki brings more than thirty years of communication experience from the corporate world, where her job was translation: taking what a company needed to say and making sure it landed, through the campaigns, projects, and meetings she built along the way. Her early love of books and affinity for British murder mysteries gave her the “it’s always the quiet ones” title twenty years running.
Their passion for travel: new people, new cultures, new places, new trails, new foods, and what each has to teach them, along with the kind of adventure that doesn’t require a map, is where they find inspiration. They are happiest being around their family.
In a world dominated by screens, they still believe in the power of pen and paper, finding joy in good stories and hand-filled grids. This belief drives the company, which grows its catalog one title at a time.
